SMS site description:
This site worked very well, but it seems that they have now run out of money. We keep them listed in the hope that they are able to resume their service.

GotNoCred.it is a very easy to use free sms service to UK mobile phones. There is no need to register. At TextMeFree.com we tested the service and the SMS arrived very quickly. GotNoCredit have a certain amount of free sms that can be sent every day, so while there is no personal limit, once their quota is used up for the day you will have to wait to send more sms. There is a counter at the top of the page showing how many free texts remain.

Further comments:
There is a small ad for GotNoCredit appended to the end of every text. Simply complete the form with your name, mobile number you are sending to and your message. You have to complete a security code but you then get a delivery status on texts that have been sent.

The website is no longer functional. It says "Oh noes! We're struggling to pay the bills, can you help Save GotNoCredit?" every time I visit. Haha they run out of credit.
