This is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that lets you send free sms. It's the lite version of TextFree Unlimited and costs $5.99 only from the US iTunes store. There is a limit of 15 free sms per day and there are adverts, but that's not bad for having free sms. You have to be in a free wifi area for this app to work. Once you've installed the application and created a nickname you can start texting for free. ...

By turning on email notification you will know when you've received a text even if you exit the TextFree app. Turn on TextFree to TextFree capability too to receive sms for free (you will need to confirm your phone number to do this, so this facility is not available for the iPod Touch).
